Double Header Weekend

The McDonald’s Nottingham Hoods have another full weekend of action, with a key double header for the Division 2 team in League and National Cup action.

Saturday sees 3 games at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena with the action tipping off at 12.30pm where the Junior Hoods u16 make their 2016/17 debut, taking on Northants Thunder who have already 2 wins from 2 under their belts and sitting at the top of the league.

The focus then moves to the Junior Hoods u18 as they take on Derby Trailblazers with a 3.00pm tip. Both teams have had a mixed start to the season, Derby sitting 4th with a 2&1 record, Hoods 7th with a 1&2 record.

The main event then tips-off at 8.00pm as the Senior team look to put their disappointing loss of last week behind them and use the fortress they have made at the Wildcats Arena with the help of their Merry Men. Last weekend, Hoods lost to London Greenhouse Pioneers 70-58, whereas Newham Neptunes just crept by London Westside 75-74.

Elswhere, Junior Hoods u14 take on Manchester Magic at Mapperley Sports Village, with a 2.30pm tip and Hoods II are making the trip to Shropshire Warriors to try and pick up their first win of the season.

On Sunday, Hoods face a titanic battle against Loughborough Student Riders, who form part of the Leicester Riders BBL set up, in the 3rd round of the National Cup. The two teams faced each other 4 times last year, with Riders taking 3 of the 4 victories on their way to a second place finish in Division 2 last season and promotion to Division 1. Riders have started well in their new life in Division 1 beating last year’s Division 2 champions Solent Kestrels 90-78 in their first game. The game is at loughborough University’s Netball Centre on Sunday with a 1.00pm tip.
