Hoods Hit Hot Streak

The McDonald’s Nottingham Hoods Basketball Club had an easy game on Saturday as they lit up Leeds 49-98, and broke the winning streak record for the club, that had stood since 2010.

From the start the Hoods had control over Leeds scoring back to back points and shutting their offensive game down.

The Hoods set the tempo and Dameatric Scott dominated the game inside the key by attacking the ring only missing 1 shot the whole game.

Fellow new signing Alvaro Urbistondo backed up Scott by knocking down open shots on his way to a 14point personal haul along with the wise headed veteran Ben Stanley who hit 13.

The young Leeds Team was left stunned as the Hoods hit from all angles and applying pressure defence to shut down the home team.

Everyone made the score sheet as unselfish and team basketball took over, with the bench providing a stunning 2-27 final quarter total as the starters took a rest.

Team Captain Toli Érotas Apostolides was delighted by the team’s performance and said “Every week we train hard both on the court and in the gym, it is now that our fitness is showing through and that we are coming together as a team and able to dominate!”

The Hoods now sit on top of Division 3, with a perfect 4&0 record, with Liverpool the only other unbeaten side in the division, whom they meet just before Christmas.

The Hoods II were not as successful, going down in a tough away loss to Derby Trailblazers. The Hoods won the last 3 quarters, but could not compensate for their slow start to the game.

This weekend sees The Hoods at home to 4th place Newcastle Under Lyme College Knights – 6.30pm tip off at the Nottingham Wildcats Arena in Bakersfield, NG3 7EB.
