Hoods re-sign Spanish star

The McDonalds Nottingham Hoods are delighted to announce the return of last year’s MVP Alvaro Guerra-Urbistondo. Alvaro was a key member of the successful team in the 2014-15 season both on and off the court and as such GM Lee English has been working hard all summer to ensure the Spanish guard returned to the Hoods.

With a stat line of 15.5 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, 1.9 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game, it is easy to see why Lee was so keen to bring him back. “Alvaro is a great guy and fits perfectly in to our Hoods family. He quickly became a fans favourite last year and helped so much in the community and coaching in schools.”

Alvaro is the first big signing, with more to be announced in the next few days, as the Hoods look to cement themselves in Division 2. Club Captain Bruce Lauder commented, “we are under no illusions on how tough next season is going to be. As a newly promoted team, all those around us will be targeting us, but we will be ready. I think we are assembling one of the strongest teams we have ever had and with the fan support we get week in, week out at home and one the road I know the guys can’t wait to get started. Alvaro was a key target over the summer to bring back and I am so pleased we have managed to make it work.”

The Hoods take to the floor in the Patron’s Cup against a highly talented Ipswich team on Saturday 12th September at 8pm and want the arena to be a cauldron of noise to cheer them on
