Hoods take nailbiter on the buzzer

DSC_5878The Nottingham Hoods have finished a dissapointing 2013 with a fantastic away win at second place Sefton Stars.

In a difficult year for the Hoods that had seen them pick up just one win in the current campaign, but a losing average of just 7 points, the final game of the year away to Sefton was a daunting prospect. By the end of the first, the story wasn’t any better as they traikled 23-15. However, the Hoods weren’t to be denied this time and they fought back to keep the game tight going into the 4th.

It looked like the Hoods were going to miss out by a slim margin again until Lucasz Siczek caught the ball and threw up an off-balance prayer towards the hoop. After waht seemed like an eternity the ball sunk, the buzzer sounded and the Hoods had claimed a massive scalp by just 1 point. The scenes that followed showed the heart that runs through the veins of all Hoods players as they celebrated as if they’d won the Championship. It was a great result and great timing as they now go into the Christmas break confident that they can and will turn their fortunes around.

Watch out 2014, the Hoods are coming!

Merry Christmas to everyone, players, coaches, volunteers, fans and followers of Nottingham’s finest.
