Luke Mitchell signs for Montverde Academy, Florida

We are delighted to announce that England u-18 and Hoods guard, Luke Mitchell, has accepted an offer to study and play for Montverde Academy, Florida for the 2016-17 season.

The Montverde Academy Varsity Basketball team, coached by Coach Kevin Boyle, is recognised as one of the top basketball programs in the nation and has attained some impressive results in the past few seasons, which include repeating as National Championship for the third consecutive year in a row (2012-15) Finishing the season again ranked #1 in all major National polls (USAToday & ESPN FAB 50).

The Eagles have finished each of the past 6 seasons ranked among the top 10 teams in America according to the final 2014 ESPN Rise/Powerade Fab 50 Boys National Basketball Rankings and USA Today.

Previous pupils of the school include Lakers no.2 overall draft pick D’Angelo Russell as well as Australian international Benjamin Simmons.

Luke has had a breakout season with the Hoods in 2015-16, breaking the club’s assist record in March before dominating the Play-off Quarter-final with a 9 from 17 shooting, including 8 three pointers on his way to a senior career high 26 points. He finishes the season averaging 8.5 pts; 3.2 reb; 3.2 ass and 0.8 stl and an impressive shooting average of 43.1%
